Communicating change can be tricky. But it doesn't need to be a mystery. This 7C Approach to Communicating change can help you to consider your change in a structured format.
1. Change
In one sentence, what is the change that is being made?
For example: A new system is being introduced.
2. Context
Consider the context of the change.
Think about:
Why are we making this change and why now?
What is the business case for the change?
What happens if the change doesn't happen?
3. Challenges
What are the likely challenges to making this change?
Is there change fatigue?
Have other change projects failed?
Is there resistance to change?
Is there an undersanding of the need for change?
4. Customers
Who are the customers - the stakeholders who will be impacted by the change?
Who needs to know about the change?
5. Channels
What are the channels that are available to you to communicate the change - how will you reach your customers?
6. Content
What do you need to say to your customers and how will it be presented? What are your key messages?
7. Cadence
How often do you need to communicate your message and will you need to reinforce it? Will you need to communicate with different customers at different times or all at once? Will you share all at once or will you have iterative unveilings of information? Will you share regular updates?
